I'm still 15 and I'm the leader of the huntresses. The last leader, Dani, looked 18, but we knew she was closer to 100, being immortal and having eternal youth does have it's benefits. She would be disgraced at how more than half of the huntresses left, especially since they were all older than I was. I became the leader by default because I was the oldest. I didn't know how to lead, I wasn't second in command like Bella was to Dani, Dani was teaching Bella how to lead the huntresses in case she died, and Bella did a great job after Dani died, until Aphrodite made her and the other older girls fall in love and leave."

"Oh, right." Luna said, forcing a small laugh. "Forgot about that." She leaned against the rock. "What do you think "the tides and the shadows" are? My guess is that the tides is a Poseidon kid, but Casey said not to guess. She's a lot more controlling as Casey than as Phoebe, and for some weird reason I feel like I have to obey her when she wants me to do something without question. I remember her hypnotizing me once to help me remember something when she was Phoebe but I feel like she did something other than help me remember. Is that weird?"

Sam shrugged. "Casey is a bit weird, but Mira seems to trust her heart, soul, and body. And Luna, as leader of the Huntresses, that is dangerous. You must always question leadership, and also challenge leadership. Leaders must always have faith in themselves. It makes the group they are leading strong." Sam sighed. "That is weird. You should ask Casey or Mira about that before the quest leaves. And you do realize we have to leave today, right? It's the Kalends of July." (Just pretend it is)

"What do you mean you're not ready? YOU don't have to go." Sam took Luna's hands gently. "Luna, you know that now is best. In a few days... the Mist might be gone completely. At least now we have some chance of concealment."

Luna hugged Sam. "I mean I'm not ready for you and everybody else to leave me again. What if you don't come back? What if Mira doesn't come back? I can't handle losing anybody else. I'm not as emotionally strong as you are."

Mira's eyes glittered silver, mirroring Luna's bronze ones. "We all have some secrets we are reluctant to share, Luna." Sam backed away, and Mira sat next to Luna. "I can't promise I won't die." Mira didn't share her suspicions that she would die... no, she couldn't do that.

"Mira..." Luna wrapped her arms around the girl. "I can't lose anyone again....I've lost too many people who are dear to me. I don't know what I would do without you. You're my little sister in the Huntresses and it's my job to look after you and protect you. How am I supposed to do that if your going on a quest where I don't know if your going to survive?"
